Congress calls Telangana indebted'

Hyderabad: The Telangana state Congress on Friday criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his comments at a media conclave on Thursday.

TPCC chief spokesperson Shravan Dasoju accused Mr Rao of trying to “conceal” facts. He said the TS government had borrowed Rs 90,000 crore in the last three years and had made the state “debt Telangana”. Despite this, Mr Rao was claiming that Telangana was No. 1 in the country.

Dr Dasoju said Mr Rao had in the past said that the Telugu language had no recognition. Why, then, did he spend Rs 200 crore on the World Telugu Conference, he asked.

He said that during the statehood agitation, Mr Rao had accused ‘Seemandhra’ people of looting Telangana and gave a call to “Jago-Bhago”.

After bifurcation, Mr Rao was moving closely with “Andhra people” like Raghavendra Rao, Lagadapati Rajagopal, actor Mohan Babu and others, he alleged.

He objected to Mr Rao saying he was for Hyderabad as the second capital. “It is not adviseable, it will cause serious losses,” Dr Dasoju said.
