Congress plans stir against LDF government
Sources said that Mr Chennithala will take up the law and order situation after he returns from Delhi.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Opposition is likely to seize the opportunity to push the LDF government to a corner on the law and order issue and the mess in the self-financing college sector. The Congress leaders want to cash in on the frustrations of the people by launching a state-wide agitation, especially after the 12-hour dharna staged by Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala in Haripad on Saturday against the increasing political murders in the state.
A section of Congress leaders said that Mr Chennithala should have staged the protest in Pinarayi Vijayan's constituency of Dharmadom in Kannur. "Chennithala should rise up to the occasion and rally the allies against the government. But he is trying to gain popularity like Mr K. Muraleedharan MLA who staged an indefinite fast against the Law Academy Law College," said a Congress leader. Sources said that Mr Chennithala will take up the law and order situation after he returns from Delhi. "When the Assembly starts on February 23, the first adjournment motion will be initiated by Chennithala on the goonda violence," said a Congress leader.
