Andhra Pradesh Congress also to move no-trust motion
The Congress party could rope in more opposition parties if it includes other pressing issues concerning the nation, and not just AP.
Hyderabad: Both the ruling and Opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh are talking about moving a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government to protest the raw deal Andhra Pradesh got in the Union Budget.
The second phase of the Budget session of Parliament will commence on March 5 and conclude on April 5. Of the 25 Lok Sabha MPs from Andhra Pradesh, 23 are from the TDP and YSRCP.
The National Democratic Alliance commands the support of over 330 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Even assuming the TDP’s 15 MPs and the YSRCP’s eight MPs vote in support of the motion, the NDA government will not collapse.
According to a statement of the Andhra Pradesh Congress committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy, even the Congress is ready to move a no-trust motion and both TDP and YSRCP will be thoroughly exposed on their support to the motion.
Given the complexity of the composition of the Lok Sabha, it is doubtful that the entire opposition as a unit will support the no-trust move for the sake of Andhra Pradesh alone. The Congress party could rope in more opposition parties if it includes other pressing issues concerning the nation, and not just Andhra Pradesh.
