Ramesh Chennithala dimisses enquiry as eyewash
He asked why the CM, who also heads the home ministry, is not responding even after the parole documents were made public.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged that the murder of Youth Congress Mattannur block secretary T.H. Shuhaib was carried out with the knowledge of the CPM. He was speaking after inaugurating the 48-hour fast by Youth Congress state president Dean Kuriakose and vice-president C. R. Mahesh in front of the Secretariat on Monday. As a mark of protest on the rise in political violence in Kannur, the two YC leaders were clad in black shirt and dhoti.
Mr Chennithala also alleged that handing over the investigation to IG (Kannur range) Mahipal Yadav, who is getting ready to go on Central deputation, is just an eyewash.
Coming down heavily on the CPM leadership, Mr Chennithala demanded that the CPM must clarify the circumstances for carrying out such a brutal murder in which Shuhaib was hacked 37 times.
"The two accused - Akash Thillenkeri and Rajin Raj - caught in connection with the murder of Shuhaib are dummies. The chief minister doesn't allow anyone to take selfies with him and yet the internet is flooding with the pictures of the CM with the accused.
In fact, now attempts are being made to save the real culprits," said Mr Chennithala.
He reiterated his earlier claim that the accused that got out on parole in the RMP leader T. P. Chandrasekharan's murder are connected with the Shuhaib's murder.
He asked why the CM, who also heads the home ministry, is not responding even after the parole documents were made public.
