Mysuru: In a determined bid to wrest the Nanjangud Assembly seat from the Congress, BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa held a secret meeting with the party’s candidate for the constituency, V Srinivasprasad, Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje, and former minister and Lingayat strongman V Somanna at a hotel near the base of Chamundi hills, to evolve an effective strategy on Sunday.

Mr Yeddyurappa also alleged that the state government was misusing its powers and was using all its officials to fight the byelection. He said, "BJP had conducted an operation to keep track of officials in Nanjangud. The photo copies of ration cards are being collected to distribute money. We will soon complain to the election commission in this regard. No matter how the state government tries to woo voters, BJP candidates will win by a large margin in both Nanjangud and Gundlupet. With Mr Srinivasprasad joining the BJP, the Dalit community even in Gundlupet is supporting the BJP candidate. And in Nanjangud, Mr Srinivasprasad's popularity alone will fetch him a large number of votes," he said.

Veteran leader Srinivasprasad, said, "I will file my nomination on Monday. The strategy for the campaign for the remaining 14 days has been planned.  Ms Shobha Karandlaje and Mr V Somanna have been placed in charge of the election campaign. Several former BJP ministers and MLAs will participate in the campaign," he said.

Mr Prasad visited Suttur math seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami along with Mysuru-Kodagu MP  Pratap Simha.
