Bengaluru: At the crucial meeting of senior Janata Dal (Secular) and Congress leaders on Tuesday to iron out differences over seat sharing, one prominent face was strangely missing-Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwar.
By staying away from the joint meeting of Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) leaders, was Dr Parameshwar trying to express his unhappiness over the allotment of the Tumakuru Lok Sabha seat to JD(S)?
The Deputy Chief Minister did tweet saying he had family commitments and so had to stay away while hinting that his absence should not be misconstrued as an act of defiance.
However, sources in the Congress party said Dr Parameshwar stayed away from the meeting due to the 'fiasco' over the Tumakuru Lok Sabha seat allocation with sitting Congress MP Muddahanumegowda deprived of a chance to contest.
Dr Parameshwar tried hard to retain the seat for the Congress but party leaders did not heed his request, said sources adding that it was given to the Janata Dal (Secular) presuming that H.D. Deve Gowda himself would contest from Tumakuru.
