TD former legislator joins YSRC
Sources said they were also upset with the MLA for not inviting them for party programmes in Venkatagiri.
Nellore: In another setback to the ruling Telugu Desam at Venkatagiri, former legislator Sai Krishna Yachendra of the Venkatagiri Raja’s family joined the YSRC in the presence of former minister and YSRC nominee Anam Ramanarayana Reddy on Tuesday.
The family of the former royals has supported the TD for several decades but is up in arms against sitting TD legislator K. Ramakrishna allegedly after he objected to some traditional rituals pertaining to the famous Poleramma jatara in the town.
Sources said they were also upset with the MLA for not inviting them for party programmes in Venkatagiri. It may be recalled that TD leader and civic body chairperson of Venkatagiri Donthu Sarada switched over to the YSRC from the TD recently because of serious differences with the MLA.
During a programme held in the palace of the Venkatagiri Raja on the occasion of his joining the YSRC on Tuesday, YSRC Rajya Sabha member Vemired-dy Prabhakar Reddy and Mr Ramanarayana Reddy invited them into the YSRC fold by offering the party shawl to the scion of the family, Mr Sarvagna Kumara Yachendra.
Senior politician Chelikam Sankar Reddy and former president of the TD women’s wing Nuvvula Manjula, along with several TD local leaders joined the YSRC.
