Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has requested cement companies to ensure supply of the commodity as per their targets to enable it to complete the ongoing housing scheme and other projects. Short supply of cement has been affecting the ongoing schemes of the government.

Ministers Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Jogi Ramesh held a meeting with the representatives of cement factories here on Tuesday and expressed displeasure at some companies not having supplied even 30 per cent of their targets.

The ministers said that the state government had given house sites to 31 lakh beneficiaries and was taking up construction of 16 lakh houses in phase-I in addition to taking up construction of secretariats, village clinics, bulk milk centres, digital libraries and others.

Ramachandra Reddy and Ramesh said that the state government was also developing schools and hospitals under Nadu-Nedu programme besides constructing buildings for government departments.
