THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM is set to finalise its chief ministerial candidate after the leadership meetings on Friday. The state committee meeting will take place at the AKG Centre on Friday.  It will be attended by central leaders including CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, politburo member Prakash Karat and others.

Prior to the state committee meeting, the state secretariat will meet in the morning to review the polls and discuss the chief minister issue. The state leadership meeting will be followed by politburo and central committee meetings to be held in Delhi on 22, 23 and 24.

CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury congratulated the people of Kerala for giving massive mandate to the LDF. He said the people had rejected the corrupt UDF Government and communal politics of BJP. He said the BJP managed to open the account with the help of Congress. “We had pointed out the UDF-BJP nexus and the under hand deal. The Congress is responsible for the growth of BJP in the state,” he said.

Mr Yechury said the chief minister issue would be resolved amicably and there would be no problem. The central leaders have pointed out that party had made it clear that the question of chief minister would be decided soon after the elections.
