Bribing' of voters: Case registered, says CM Palaniswami
However, dissatisfied with the reply the DMK members walked out of the House followed by Congress members and IUML.
Chennai: Lashing out at the opposition DMK for frantically looking for opportunities to take on his government and thereby disrupting the Assembly proceedings, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswmi exuded confidence that his government will last its full term and said it will "fulfill the needs of the people."
His assertion comes a day after the media reported that Election Commission of India (ECI) had asked to register case against persons who were allegedly involved in bribing the voters at R. K. Nagar Assembly by-election. Reacting to the DMK's vain bid to raise the issue in the Assembly House on Monday, Palaniswami told the Assembly that a case has been registered with regard to the issue.
"A case has been registered after obtaining permission from the metropolitan magistrate court. Investigation is going on," he said but did not disclose the names of persons mentioned in the FIR.
However, dissatisfied with the reply the DMK members walked out of the House followed by Congress members and IUML.
Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal ruled that the DMK compact disc, submitted to raise the issue of alleged horse-trading of some AIADMK legislators, was only a TV channel's video footage with no value of 'evidence.'
