Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) fully supports the One-Nation-One- Poll formula of the BJP government and has also told the Centre that it is prepared to extend support if a Constitutional amendment is required to bring this about.

Agreeing that there are certain constrains in conducting simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and state assemblies, Mr Rama Rao said, “We categorically said in the meeting that it is a welcome move.”

He felt that conducting the elections in a fixed time frame will control the money power in elections. “We have placed forward the ideology of our party chief K. Chand-rasekhar Rao in the meeting. We also made it very clear that strengthening of the states and federal system is the only way to make the country powerful,” Mr Rama Rao said.

“We also demanded the transfer of agriculture, health and education to the states, deleting them from the concurrent list.”

Mr Rama Rao said his party welcomed the decision of the Centre to celebrate the 175th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

He said that the Prime Minister has assured him he will consider the proposal of developing 150 schools, 150 hospitals and 150 villages in the state.

He said he informed the Prime Minister in the meeting that with the announcement of districts under the Aspirational Districts Programme, it is also necessary to release funds and engage in constant monitoring.

“We reminded that though Jayashankar Bhupalpally district is in the list of Aspirational Districts, it still remains an under developed district.”
