KAKINADA: BC welfare minister Ch. Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna has criticised Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan for his caste-linked remarks during his present round of campaigns in the state.

The minister told the media at Ramachandrapuram on Monday that Pawan has no own policy and no ideology to serve the people through the instrument of a political party. Instead, he was working as a B-team to boost the chances of Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu in the upcoming assembly polls.

Krishna ridiculed Pawan’s comments on the unity of Kapu and Settibalija communities in the Godavari districts. He said that these two castes are working together both politically and socially for years together.

He said, “Pawan Kalyan frequently mentions that he has no caste feelings, but why did he mention the word ‘castes’ as many as 75 times in a speech?”

Pawan Kalyan has no moral right to talk about the safety and welfare of women. Though the Jana Sena was floated as a political party 10 years ago, its leaders including industrialists, retired officials etc have left the party after a while due to the adamant attitudes of Pawan Kalyan, the minister said.

The minister said Jagan Mohan Reddy was the only chief minister who kept his word and implemented his election manifesto to the full. “Pawan Kalyan is on the Varahi Yantra with a (Kakinada MLA) Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy phobia,’’ he said.
