Kozhikode:  The simmering issues within UDF came to the fore on Friday with IUML leaders P.K. Kunhalikkutty and E.T. Muhammed Basheer demanding urgnt intervention of High Command to sort out the intra-party issues of Congress, saying the issues within UDF is a result of lack of unity in Congress. The reaction of Kunhalikkutty came soon after the series of discussions between Congress leadership and IUML in Thiruvananthapuram.

At present, there were many issues that UDF faces, Kunhalikkutty said, adding that these make the internal issues of UDF more complex. He also made it clear that IUML was ready to discuss the issues again with the  Congress. IUML national secretary E.T. Muhammed Basheer demanded that the Congress High Command should intervene without further delay.

The Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala who met the reporters after the meeting did not oppose the allegations leveled by IUML leaders.  The issues within Congress would be sorted out soon after discussions with the high command, he said. Reorganizing the party machinery in the state also would be discussed with the High Command  on August 23, he added.
