A K Antony flays CM Pinarayi Vijayan's clean chit for Thomas Chandy
Mr Antony also struck a posture of not favouring the Athirappally hydel power project.
KOCHI: Senior Congress leader and Congress Working Committee member A. K. Antony came down on the attitude of Chief Minister in dealing with the allegations against Transport Minister and NCP leader Thomas Chandy. Mr Antony told media persons here on Saturday that giving a clean chit to Thomas Chandy before ordering a probe into the allegations against him was not proper on the part of the Chief Minister.
“A proper investigation should be ordered immediately to clear the air. When an allegation against a minister or anyone else is raised, it is the standard practice to conduct a probe that is convincing to the people,” Mr Antony said referring to the allegations against the Minister in relation to the resort run by him in Alappuzha.
Mr Antony also struck a posture of not favouring the Athirappally hydel power project. He said that he was not aware of the circumstances under which former chief minister Oommen Chandy said that Athirappally project can be subjected to discussion. “Consensus is not possible in Kerala on such projects and so the discussions on the project should come to an end. Projects should not come up in the state by displacing farmers and tribal people,” the senior Congress leader said.
