KAKINADA:  Reports of the resignation of Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary, senior Telugu Desam leader and Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA, created tremors in the party on Thursday. The six-time legislator did not deny his dissatisfaction and had, in fact, warned the party high command at least four times since 2014 against the way the party affairs were being managed.

He gave an indication of his dissent to TD chief, N. Chandrababu Naidu Wednesday night. Naidu and Nara Lokesh held discussions with Chowdary and sent a team to him on Thursday. Nimmakayala China Rajappa, Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy and K. S. Jawahar met Chowdary and held discussions.

It is learnt that Chowdary expressed his anguish and said that though he had a strong hold in Rajamahendravaram, city leaders like Adireddy Appa Rao have not given importance to him and were even harassing his cadre.

Later Rajappa told this correspondent that Chowdary has not resigned from the party. He has reservations on some issues, which would be taken to the notice of the party high command. He said that when Naidu comes to Vijaywada next, Chowdary will meet him and the issue would be sorted out.

Meanwhile, Chowdary told Deccan Chronicle that the party did not give importance to him while even his juniors could get to meet Naidu.

He said that he was a strong follower of N.T. Rama Rao. “I uphold the self-esteem of TD people and now my self-esteem is at stake. It will be pointless to continue in the party in such circumstances’’, he said and made it clear that he had not tendered resignation and is waiting for the party high command’s stand on him.

Meanwhile, according to sources, internal-conflicts have led to his dissatisfaction. He had squabbles with former MLC Adireddy Appa Rao. During the TD regime from 2014-19, Chowdary had shown his dissent against Naidu following which the party high command gave importance to Ganni Krishna.
