BJP to protest BRS giving 2BHK houses to cadre
Hyderabad: Telangana state BJP vice-president and former legislator N.V.S.S. Prabhakar issued a stern warning on Sunday that the BJP will start a protest against the BRS government if Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao does not address concerns of the people.
Prabhakar, who staged a 48-hour-long dharna demanding the allocation of two-bedroom houses to eligible candidates, concluded his protest on Sunday in Ramanthapur. On August 18, the former MLA began a dharna with hundreds of BJP activists and eligible candidates seeking houses.
On the last day of the two-day dharna, Prabhakar highlighted that around 35,000 applicants are waiting for allotment of double-bedroom houses in Uppal constituency. He alleged that the BRS government was granting houses under the scheme only to ruling party sympathisers and those recommended by BRS leaders, often in exchange for money from beneficiaries.
The BJP leader called upon the state government to genuinely assess each application and provide houses to homeless individuals, including those from economically disadvantaged minority communities. Prabhakar warned that if the government does not respond to their demands within the next 48 hours, the party will launch an extensive protest.
