CM grooming son & heir, targeting Vokkaligas: HD Revanna

Hassan: Once again accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of targeting Vokkaliga leaders of the state, senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former minister H.D. Revanna claimed here on Thursday that Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa had deliberately put on hold the promotion of seven officials from the community and was harassing them.
Speaking to reporters here, he said that those who had tried to “finish off” the Vokkaligas in the past had to bite dust themselves .
“As there are no elections round the corner, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have completely forgotten those hit by floods in the state. Instead of focusing on rebuilding their lives, Mr Yediyurappa has been busy transferring officials and BJP leaders are making a fast buck out of the transfers,” Mr Revanna charged.
Recalling that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in the past called the JDS-Congress coalition “a commission government,” the former public works minister said that it was time he now asked Mr Yediyurappa how much he was making from transferring officials.
Mr Revanna regretted that Mr Modi had not made time to meet Mr Yediyurappa on the issue of relief funds for the flood-affected people of Karnataka, but hoped the Union government would come to the rescue of its farmers and others affected by the calamity.
Also accusing Mr Yediyurappa of grooming his son, Vijayendra to be his “heir,” he said he felt compelled to do this as he had turned 75, the age at which the Bharatiya Janata Party retires its leaders.
