VS Achuthanandan says UDF is in total chaos
It was the BJP members who argued for women entry into Sabarimala and fought the case in Supreme Court and wrote articles.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran CPM leader V.S. Achuthanandan on Saturday said that the opposition was in total chaos and had nothing to speak about people's issues. Achuthanandan said one thing was clear that UDF is nervous in these elections. “I am not making these observations because I am a Left spokesman but because of the statements being made by UDF leaders,” he said.
He said the people would give marks to the state government and not to the opposition, for handling back to back floods which had caused widespread destruction. To a certain extent the state has overcome the calamity.
Achuthanandan said the country was experiencing economic crisis. The production has reduced, growth rate has come down and this has been explained by experts including economic adviser to the IMF. But the BJP’s B team UDF was not interested in raising such issues. These issues are not of any importance for them. They are harping on Sabarimala.
It was the BJP members who argued for women entry into Sabarimala and fought the case in Supreme Court and wrote articles.
“The demand was accepted by the Supreme Court. Initially they welcomed the SC judgment. But when the government implemented the verdict, the BJP and Congress launched a joint agitation,” the CPM veteran said.
Achuthanandan said the UDF’s only resort seems to be NSS. “It would be good if the opposition realizes that today there is no community which dances to the tune of self styled Pope of the community,” the veteran said while referring to NSS general secretary Sukumaran Nair without taking his name.
