Abandon social policing: Owaisi
Following recent incidents of girls being stopped, Owaisi asked why there was no objection when Muslim boys were seen with non-Muslim girls
Hyderabad: MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took strong exception to “social policing” and asked people to abandon the recent practice of stopping burqa-clad girls who are seen with non-Muslims and making the videos viral on social media. “If you do so, the girls will become rebellious,” he said.
Following recent incidents of girls being stopped, Owaisi asked why there was no objection when Muslim boys were seen with non-Muslim girls. “Why this double standard and why this discrimination against women? Why should only Muslim girls be faulted and not Muslim boys,” he asked.
Referring to Army personnel who were killed in Jammu and Kashmir in recent days, Owaisi said, "Nine of our soldiers died in J&K, and India will be playing a T20 match with Pakistan on October 24?"
"Our soldiers have died. Will you play T20? Pakistan is playing 20-20 in Kashmir every day with the lives of the people of India," he added. Owaisi was addressing a gathering in the Old City late on Monday on the occasion of Milad-Un-Nabi.
Owaisi said he was not expanding the party to newer areas for his own satisfaction or for popularity but was striving to unite Muslims and ensure justice for them. The motto is to strengthen democracy, he said adding that he will tour India until his last breath.
"People are objecting to our party's participation in elections outside Telangana, but we are getting public support in Bihar and Maharashtra. Now we are contesting in UP and we aim to defeat Yogi and Modi,” Owaisi said.
“If anyone dares to speak in Parliament, they are only two: One is I and the second one is MIM MP Imtiyaz Jaleel, who argues with reason and evidence,” Owaisi said.
Owaisi claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi never dared to speak on two issues — one was the rising prices of fuel and the second one China. “Modi had announced after (the) Pulwama (terror strike) that ‘we will strike in their home’, but China has occupied Indian territory and killed several Indian soldiers, but he is maintaining silence over it. It feels like he is not using cheeni (sugar) in tea due to the fear of Cheen (China),” Owaisi quipped.
