Special Camps on November Weekends, Final List on January 5, 2024, Confirms CEO
Chennai: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sathyabrata Sahoo will hold a discussion with representatives of the recognized national and State political parties on October 25 with regard to the preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, ahead of the release of the draft voters’ list that has been scheduled for October 27.
Revision of electoral rolls would be carried out through the conduct of special enrollment camps at the polling booths during two weekends on November 4 and 5 and November 18 and 19 before the publication of the final list on January 5, 2024, Sahoo told the media on Thursday.
He said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been recently recognized as a national party and would be participating in the discussions along with the other national parties like BJP, Congress, CPM and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). The State parties recognized by the Election Commission are DMK, AIADMK and CPI.
For the coming Assembly elections in the five States of Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram, 43 IAS officers and 15 IPS officers from Tamil Nadu would be deputed as observers, he said.
