Nizamabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has criticised the Congress for being responsible for the backwardness of Telangana. She alleged that for decades, from the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to Sonia Gandhi, the Congress has done injustice to the people of Telangana.

Addressing a meeting of BRS party activists in Nizamabad on Friday, Kavitha said that Nehru forcibly merged Hyderabad state into Andhra. She also accused Indira Gandhi of suppressing the separate statehood movement and Rajiv Gandhi of insulting then chief minister T. Anjaiah.

Kavitha further alleged that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's decision to set aside a separate Telangana resolution claimed hundreds of lives. She also said that Rahul Gandhi had agreed that his family's relationship with the people of Telangana had been adverse.
