Thinkers question imposition of ban orders in Mysuru

MYSURU: A number of intellectuals and heads of different organisations met police commissioner K.T. Balakrishna to lodge their protest against imposition of prohibitory orders on grounds that they curtailed their fundamental rights, here on Thursday.
Even as prohibitory orders were clamped for three days from today to curb protests against the controversial CAA, S.R. Hiremath, Badagalpura Nagendra and others met Mr Balakrishna and Deputy Commissioner of Police Prakash Gowda to lodge their objections, and demand that people be allowed to voice their dissent till December 24. They were told by the top cop that prohibitory orders were imposed in the wake of intelligence reports that protests could turn violent. Meanwhile, several groups were sent back by policemen when they arrived to stage protests at the Town Hall.
