Hyderabad: The Congress government promised to provide free travel to women in the state-run RTC buses and began implementing it too.

While all the women hailed the Congress government for its innovative initiative, the teachers of the zilla parishad high school in Penpahad mandal headquarters in Suryapet district have voluntarily refused to avail themselves of the programme.

They said they would take the ticket and then only travel in the RTC buses. "Women employed in government sector do not need the facility of free travel in RTC buses," they felt.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Sk Jebunnisa, Putta Malleswari, Rafia Begum, M Sunita Devi, Dhanalakshmi, Karunasri and Vijaya said that it would be better if the women receiving good remuneration from their employers can take ticket and cooperate with the RTC in earning some revenue.

They urged the government to provide minimum support price to all crops, quality seeds and fertilisers to farmers. They also wanted the government to impart training in skill development to youth and help them find employment.
