Revanth Reddy shifts his focus to Adilabad from Nalgonda
ADILABAD: Telangana State Congress president A. Revanth Reddy, bent on strengthening his hands, has shifted his focus to Adilabad after Nalgoda’s ‘Nirudyoga Sabha’ date was rescheduled for April 28 from April 21.
The TPCC chief’s aim is to demonstrate his strength well before the arrival of Priyanka Gandhi in the state on May 5 or 6 to address a public meeting in Hyderabad, party sources said.
Revanth Reddy started focusing on the erstwhile Adilabad district after the success of the 'Jai Bharath Satyagarbha Sabha' held as part of CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka's padayatra in Mancherial on BR Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14.
The TPCC led by Revanth is conducting Nirudyoga Sabhas to register the people’s protest against the state PSC’s question paper leaks, in which top ruling party figures were allegedly involved. The Congress party also aims to infuse confidence among the 30 lakh educated unemployed youths affected by the PSC leaks.
As per the rescheduled dates, the Sabhas will be held in Khammam, Adilabad, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy on April 24, 26, 28, 30, and May 1.
The date of the Nirudyoga Sabha in Nalgonda was rescheduled for April 28 from April 21 after Nalgonda MP Uttam Reddy reportedly raised objection over holding the event in his constituency without first informing him. A new meeting place, Mahaboobnagar, was then added to the list.
Revanth Reddy’s team is working to make the Nirudyoga deeksha successful in Adilabad on April 26.
Revanth Reddy is trying to join the other party leaders in the Congress, especially in the Nirmal assembly constituency, after Aleti Maheshwar joined the BJP. In a swift action, Revanth brought the Sarangapur ZPTC Pathi Rajeshwar into the Congress to compensate for the loss just three days after Maheshwar Reddy quit the party.
Revanth’s aides are also focusing on bringing Maheshwar’s associates into the Congress, to strengthen Revanth’s hands. An example of this is Ade Gajender, a party ticket aspirant from Boath, holding a ‘Prajaswamya Parirakshana deeksha’ in Ichoda.
TPCC general secretary Vedma Bojju said they are mobilizing the public from Khanapur, Boath and Asifabad and Adilabad assembly constituencies for the Nirudyoga Deeksha in the Adilabad headquarters on April 26. Large numbers of unemployed youths would participate in the event. A 2-km padayatra from the collectorate chowrasta would culminate in a street-corner meeting in the town at night.
Revanth Reddy’s group is trying to keep a hold on seven assembly constituencies that fall under Adilabad parliament seat.
Meanwhile, both former AICC programme implementation committee chairman Aleti Maheshwar who joined the BJP and Revanth Reddy are trying to show their supremacy in the politics in Khanapur, Nirmal and Adilabad assembly constituencies. Both leaders are influential in these regions.
