24x7 power plan on track: Piyush Goyal
He was referring to the Centre's pledge to supply uninterrupted power supply to every household by 2019.
Hyderabad: Highlighting his ministry’ achievements during the two years of the NDA government, Union power minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said that the foundation has been laid to ensure that everyone in the country gets power 24x7. He was referring to the Centre’s pledge to supply uninterrupted power supply to every household by 2019.
Mr Goyal also welcomed the measures taken by governments of various states to ensure cheaper and affordable power to farmers and poor.
Replying to a query from a scribe from Hyderabad in connection with 4x270 MW thermal power plant at Bhadradri, the minister said the Central government was not encouraging sub-critical technology for construction of thermal power plants. He was interacting with reporters through a live video media conference from Delhi.
Mr Goyal said he was against giving permission to sub-critical technology for thermal power plants as they cause more pollution.
However, the Union minister said if the state governments can come out with valid reasons, then the Power ministry will look into the request.
