AP issues GO for prosecution of Pawan Kalyan
Pawan made defamatory' remarks on village/ward volunteers
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Government has issued an order to prosecute Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan for his allegedly defamatory statements against the gram/ward volunteers and volunteer system and ‘against’ the state government.
The GO-Rt 16 issued by special chief secretary Ajay Jain here on Thursday granted permission for prosecution of Pawan Kalyan under section 199 (4)(b) of the code of criminal procedure, 1973. A complaint would be filed by the public prosecutor in a competent court of law for making baseless allegations against the gram/ward volunteers.
The GO stated that PK made derogatory and venomous statements against the village/ward volunteer system and also against the state government during his public meeting atop Varahi at Eluru on July 9.
“Pawan Kalyan alleged in the meeting that the volunteers were the sole reason for the cause of missing of 29,000 women, and referred to NCRB data on AP. He also alleged that single women were being targeted and information about them was being collected in the name of welfare schemes and the same was being forwarded by volunteers to anti-social elements, resulting in human trafficking.”
“He said that the volunteer system/network developed by the state government was involved in human trafficking and added that the volunteers who got such data, targeted women with financial difficulties and pushed them into trafficking.”
“He said that out of 29,000 missing women, only 14,000 were traced by the police while the remaining 16,000 remained untraced.”
The GO explained that it was as part of the decentralisation of administration up to village level that the AP government took an innovative policy decision by following footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi to implement village/ward system in the state. “The noble objective was to deliver government services and benefits of the welfare and developmental schemes to the poor at their door-steps.”
The GO said Pawan Kalyan suppressed facts and the objective of the Volunteer system, and made defamatory statements causing substantial damage to the reputation of the volunteer system as well as to the state government in the eyes of the general public and even caused a feeling of insecurity in the minds of the women in distress.
