Bengaluru: Close on the heels of the launch of Indira Canteens in the city, KPCC working president Dinesh Gundurao has created a stir alleging that BJP workers may try to adulterate the food and tarnish the new scheme. He appealed to Congress workers to work hard to  prevent such ‘machinations.’

Speaking at an event to commemorate the birth anniversary of former CM Devaraj Urs and former PM Rajiv Gandhi here, Mr Rao said, “The BJP is envious of the Indira Canteen project, which is aimed at providing food at subsidized rates to the urban poor. This scheme has already appealed to many inspite of its launch just three days ago. The BJP wants to derail this scheme at the earliest to spoil its name, hence, they might even stoop to a new low  by adulterating food.  I have incriminating information in this regard, so it has become more pertinent for me to warn party workers to thwart such machinations.”

AICC general secretary, B.K. Hariprasad slammed BJP leaders saying they were  anti-reservation and anti-poor. “All that the BJP does is shed crocodile tears for the poor and Dalits. They are planning to bring amendments to the Constitution to cut quotas, this is nothing less than backstabbing the Dalits,” he said.
