Seven women in BRS list, Kavitha's demand for women's reservation a drama: BJP
HYDERABAD: The BRS MLC K Kavitha must apologize to women in Telangana as her party did not give 33 percent reservation for women in the BRS party Assembly elections candidate list, BJP spokesperson Rani Rudrama said on Monday. She said “the BRS party ignoring women in its list shows that Kavitha’s protests in Delhi demanding that the Centre enact 33 percent reservation for women in the Parliament was just a drama to divert attention from her alleged role in the Delhi liquor scam.”
In a statement, Rudrama said only 7 women have been named as BRS candidates in the state which means the party gave a mere 3 percent of the tickets of the 119 Assembly seats in Telangana. Why has Kavitha not protested outside Pragati Bhavan demanding 33 percent reservation for women in the list? It is the BJP which ensures 30 percent reservation for women. It is the BJP which introduced the women’s reservation Bill in the Parliament, not once, but four times. And it will be the BJP which will enact a law on women’s reservation,” she said.
