KURNOOL:  Spokesperson for the Telugu Desam Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy said that the state was effectively being governed by a select group of leaders, often referred to as the ‘Dirty Dozen’.

He addressed the media in Mangalagiri on Sunday and said this group includes prominent contractors, namely Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy of PLR Constructions, Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy of MRKR Constructions, Vishveswar Reddy of Shirdi Sai, and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy of Raghava Constructions.

According to Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy, these four contractors have secured government contracts worth nearly Rs2 lakh crore in recent years, and there appears to be a close relationship between them and the Chief Minister.

He also pointed out that the Chief Minister often accumulates substantial debt to facilitate payments to these contractors.

He said, “While these contractors receive significant payments, smaller contractors who have completed government projects are left waiting for their payments.”

He also raised concerns about the lack of transparency in awarding contracts and questioned the background and qualifications of some of these contractors, particularly those hailing from Pulivendula in Kadapa.

Further, the TD leader pointed out that MRKR Constructions, led by Meda Chandrasekhara Reddy, has been awarded contracts for multiple shipping harbors and tourism development projects without competitive bidding.

He said that the contracts recently awarded to Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Sreenivas Reddy were just a small part of the substantial contracts they had received over the past four years.
