BJP lagging behind in TS political race while BRS and Congress get active
Warangal/Karimnagar: With polls a few months away, the BJP in the state is gripped by a sense of inertia even as the ruling BRS and the Congress have begun the drum-beats in more active ways.
A confident BRS set the ball rolling by announcing its candidates for the assembly polls much in advance while the Congress has made a huge success of its Tukkuguda meeting. Both these opposition parties have intensified their political activities as the countdown for the assembly polls has started in Telangana.
Notably, only a few BJP leaders are active and taking up programmes to put up a tough fight for them at the hustings in erstwhile Warangal and Karimnagar districts.
There are 12 assembly segments in Warangal region and 13 in the Karimnagar region. The BJP is active only in a few constituencies even as the election fever is seen all around.
However, the scenario is not very rosy in the BRS party too. After the declaration of the names of the candidates, the sitting MLAs of the party are facing rebel trouble in most of the assembly segments for the party tickets. This situation resulted in clashes in several assembly segments in these regions.
Many BJP leaders aspiring for the MLA tickets from various assembly segments in the two regions not active compared to the Congress and BRS leaders.
An exception is in Warangal West (Hanamkonda) constituency. BJP district unit president Rao Padma and the official spokesperson Rakesh Reddy are vying for the party ticket, getting in touch with the people and taking up various local issues.
In Warangal East (Warangal) constituency, BJP state leader Errabelli Pradeep Rao, brother of Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar and Ganta Ravikumar are in the race for BJP ticket.
Pradeep Rao, through his public trust, conducted job melas to impress the youth and engaged in charity activities to woo other sections of the people. Ravi took up several party programmes and intensified his political activities.
In Bhupalpally, Chandupatla Keerthi Reddy is in the ticket race while in Station Ghanpur, former minister Vijaya Ramarao is seeking candidature. In Wardhannept, former MLA K Sridhar while the other ticket seekers are: in Narsampet, former MLA Prakash Reddy in Narsampet and Premendar Reddy in Parkal. They are seen participating in major party programmes in their constituencies.
There are many key leaders of the BJP in the Karimnagar region, including BJP general secretary and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay, Huzurabad MLA, former minister and election panel chairman Etala Rajendar, former MP GV Venkataswamy and former MLAs Gujjala Ramakrishna (Peddapalli), Bodiga Shoba (Choppadandi) and Somarapur Sathyanarayana (Ramagundam).
The BJP leaders of Jagtial and Vemulawada assembly segments are active. In Jagtial, former municipal chairperson and BJP state executive member Bhoga Shravani was preparing the ground to give a tough fight and register victory in the coming assembly elections. Former ZP chairperson Tula Uma and newly joined Dr Chennamneni Vikasrao are also vying for the BJP ticket to contest from Vemulawada assembly segment.
When Tula Uma was reaching out to various sections of the people by taking up fights or campaigns on various local issues, Vikas Rao intensified his political activities through conducting free medical camps and actively participating in party programmes.
