Congress Plans 'BC Garjana' Rally in Shadnagar, Awaits Confirmation from Key Figures

HYDERABAD: Former PCC president V. Hanumantha Rao said on Thursday that the party would hold its ‘BC Garjana’ in Shadnagar on October 10. The date could not be confirmed so far due to the non-availability of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah among others.

“The BC community forms 54 per cent of the population in Telangana. If the caste census is done as proposed by Rahul Gandhi, it will be a game changer for the community,” Rao said, recalling that Rajiv Gandhi had passed the 73rd and 74th constitutional amendments which had empowered women in the local bodies.

“I told Siddaramaiah that I have covered 10 districts to speak on BC Garjana. PM Modi claims he belongs to the BC community and gloats over giving 29 Cabinet berths to the group but has done nothing for holding a caste census,” he said.
