Hyderabad: G. Niranjan, TPCC senior vice-president and chairman of the Election Commission Coordination Committee, has urged the Election Commission to delay the release of the final voters list due to the ongoing strike by anganwadi workers who serve as booth level officers (BLO) in Telangana.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi, he stated: "I am enclosing a clipping of a TV channel showing anganwadi workers holding a demonstration at the Adilabad collectorate. Anganwadi workers have been on strike since September 11, 2023. They have not been involved in the preparation of voter lists and have not accepted Form 6 from the public or political parties. This issue was brought to the attention of the CEO Telangana on September 15, 2023."

"We have doubts whether the list would be ready by October 4, 2023. Therefore, we request you to postpone the due date for the publication of the list to a future date. Ample time should be provided to the staff for the accurate preparation of the list. A proper and error-free voter list is crucial for a free and fair election," he said.
