HYDERABAD: The state committees of the CPI and CPM, which met at the CPM headquarters at RTC Crossroads on Thursday, decided to meet again on October 1 to decide their future course of action and announce their candidates.

Briefing the media on the political scenario as the Left bloc saw it, CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said, “The parties which KCR met to form a third front are now part of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc. The BRS and AIMIM are proposing a third front to benefit the BJP. The AIMIM is contesting in many states to benefit the BJP by dividing the votes. We are committed to fighting the BJP and will work closely with those who work against them.”

CPI state secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said, “The issue of talks with the Congress did not crop up in our meeting.” He said that the BJP which has raided all party leaders had not touched the AIMIM. “The BJP has become adept in taking the people for a ride," he claimed.

A senior CPM leader who did not wish to be named favoured an alliance with the Congress as it would tilt the winning chances in at least 30 constituencies.
