State Congress party president Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Tuesday that Congress was all set to win the Dubbak Assembly by-elections with a huge majority. The ruling TRS party would suffer a severe shock in Dubbak by-elections as ruling party leaders have failed in their attempts to mislead people, he said.

“People have realised that the TRS government has failed on all fronts and never honoured promises it made to the people. TRS leaders make huge promises before elections and forget them once polling was over. They did the same thing in Huzurnagar by-elections. Now the same stunt was being repeated in Dubbak. But this time, people have realised that they were being cheated and have decided to vote for Congress candidate Ch. Srinivas Reddy,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy blamed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for the huge loss of lives and properties in heavy rains and floods across the Telangana state, especially in the capital city of Hyderabad. He said that the Chief Minister did not visit a single affected area to inspect relief measures and instill confidence among the affected people.

The Chief Minister’s announcement of Rs 1 lakh each for those whose houses had totally collapsed and Rs 50,000 each for those whose homes were partially damaged was an insult to injury, he said.

Mr Reddy said that standing crops spread across lakhs of acres of land were lost due to ongoing heavy rains and floods. He said that the TRS government did not issue any guidelines to enumerate losses to initiate payment of compensation to affected farmers.

Latha Narender Reddy, MPP of Toguta, joined the Congress party in the presence of Manickam Tagore, in-charge of Telangana Congress and N Uttam Kumar Reddy. The party also held its review meeting at Toguta and Mirdoddi mandal of Dubbak constituency.
