BHOPAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday exhorted the youths to “dream big and achieve big” and pointed out that the BJP-led government at the Centre had completed several “pending” works in the last 10 years including the abrogation of Article 370, implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), one-rank-one-pension (OROP) for the defence forces, banning of triple talaq and the introduction of women's quota in legislature.

Addressing a function to mark the 125th foundation day celebration of The Scindia School in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, Modi said, “We have resolved to make India a developed country in the next 25 years and the young generation has a key role to play in achieving the goal.”

Noting that Shatabdi Express trains were introduced when the late Madhavrao Scindia was railway minister, Modi said after that, no new trains were started in the country for decades. It was his government that introduced modern Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat trains, he added.

Modi said he has created an atmosphere in the country to ensure that there should be no dearth of opportunities for the young generation.

"Ever since I became the PM in 2014, my focus has been to create a positive atmosphere in the country to ensure that there should be no death of opportunities for the young generation so that the youth can see big dreams and achieve them,” he said.

Modi said there were few start-ups in the country when he became the PM. Now, the number of start-ups has touched the 1 lakh mark, leading to the growth of more than 100 unicorns.

Mr Modi said he has special relations with the Gwalior royal family of Scindias.

“Firstly, I am an MP from Kashi. The Scindia family has played a significant role in the development of Kashi. The Scindia family has built many ghats (a broad flight of steps) on the bank of the Ganga and has provided financial assistance for the establishment of BHU,” he said.

This apart, Jyotiraditya Scindia is the son-in-law of Gujarat and in that context, I have a relation with Gwalior, he added.

Earlier, students of The Scindia School presented a dance performance to the tune of the garba song “Madi” penned by Modi himself. He also laid the foundation stone for a multipurpose sports complex in the school on the occasion.
