Hyderabad: Alleging that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was “number one in corruption” in the country, Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday said the BJP would probe the BRS government's “corrupt deals” if it comes to power in the state.

“KCR is number one in corruption in the country. By conducting an inquiry into all their corrupt deals, the BJP will put those who indulged in corruption behind bars,” he said.

Speaking at the BJP’s campaign meetings in Jangaon and Korutla segments, in support of candidates Arutla Dashmanth Reddy and Dharmapuri Arvind, respectively, Shah promised to build a memorial for Bairanpally martyrs.

“CM KCR is not paying homage to the martyrs and is neglecting September 17th owing to fear of Asaduddin Owaisi. The steering of the BRS is in the hands of Owaisi and not the KCR family,” he said.

“If we come to power, September 17 will be officially celebrated as liberation day. KCR did not fulfil his promise to establish a polytechnic in Jangaon. The present BRS MLA and the new candidate in Jangaon are neck deep in land encroachments and corruption,” he said.

Later in the day, Amit Shah held a roadshow in Hyderabad, starting at the Hanuman Temple, traversing HMT to Nacharam, between 5 pm and 10 pm, drawing huge crowds and loud sloganeering.

Earlier in the day, in the districts, Shah invoked the Lord Ram sentiment to woo the Hindu voter base.

“People of Telangana can celebrate their Diwali for the second time on December 3 and then for a third time when we inaugurate the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. Modi is going to install statues of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. We will give a free darshan of the Lord if we are brought to power,” he said.

Crediting MP Dharmapuri Arvind for the creation of a turmeric board, he said, “Arvind has always sought the board and insisted that we set it up soon. Now, turmeric farmers will not just get remunerative price for the crop, but a research centre is also going to be set up to probe the medical uses of the crop. The board will help the entire north Telangana. If we form the government, we will also reopen three sugar factories. Processing centres will also be set up to use maize for mixing in ethanol.”

Listing out more promises, he said: “There are more than three lakh beedi workers here in Nizamabad also. We have to set up a 500-bed hospital for the beedi workers. NRI ministry will also be made. KCR in 2014 said that he would make a Dalit the CM. Madigas will also get justice by categorising; this is being done by us. We will also remove the Muslim reservation and distribute it among SC, ST and BC communities. We backed categorisation of SC reservation like no other party. By holding the G20 meeting in the country, Modi increased the stature of the country internationally.”

Attacking other political parties, he said: “Congress, BRS and AIMIM are 2G, 3G and 4G parties, but the BJP is not a family party like them. CM KCR has the dubious distinction of being the most corrupt CM in the country and is bagging commissions in Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha.”

“While the nation is forging ahead on the development path, Telangana government is steeped in corruption. For the state to develop, we need a double-engine government here. Let us send KCR packing home,” he said.

Explaining the BJP’s promises, he said, “The Central government will buy the entire paddy crop at '3,100 MSP. The BJP will fill jobs in six months of our coming to power. The BRS did not give double bedrooms also. BJP will give four cylinders free of cost to all the poor households. Chandrayaan became a success owing to efforts by PM Modi. Let us make Modi PM once again in 2024.”

MP and contestant from Korutla Dharmapuri Arvind said, “Modi constructed four crore houses across the country while KCR failed to give houses. While KCR failed to give health insurance, we will give Rs.10 lakh health insurance once we come to power and fill 2.5 lakh jobs in the state in six months. While giving Rs.10,000 Rythu Bandhu, they are taking 10 kgs as waste per quintal and are depriving farmers of Rs.12,000.”
