Congress candidate for teachers constituency files nomination

HYDERABAD: Mabubnagar Congress candidate Galreddy Harshavardhan Reddy filed his nomination for the Mahbubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad teacher’s constituency for biennial elections to the Telangana state Legislative Council on Wednesday.

Harshavardhan along with party leaders V. Hanumantha Rao, M. Anjan Kumar Yadav and Feroz Khan submitted the papers to the returning officer at the GHMC head office.

The former PCC spokesperson, in 2021 had contested as a rebel candidate after the party fielded former minister G. Chinna Reddy for Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar graduates’ constituency. Within a year of his resignation and suspension from the party, Harshavardhan returned to the party fold in the presence of PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, Chinna Reddy and other important
leaders.

The founder of the Progressive Recognised Teachers Union (PRTU), the ruling party affiliate, had joined the Congress in recent years.
