MLC polls: Telugu Desam fails to win educated over
Entire state Cabinet fails to convince the intellectuals.
Vijayawada: The TD has failed in winning the confidence of graduates and teachers, which is clear by its loss in all teachers and graduates’ constituency elections. The ruling party lost despite the involvement of the entire Cabinet at a personal level.
The Opposition alleged that the TD won in the local body MLC elections as it had lured the voters with cash and threatened of illegal cases being filed against them.
They said the public had rejected the TD, which was clearly witnessed in the teachers and graduates’ elections.
Political parties’ influence in teachers and graduates’ constituency is very less, but the TD had directly got involved in this election and paid for its involvement.
The TD’s happiness in winning local body MLC elections did not last for even 24 hours. It witnessed loss in 2 teachers and 2 graduates’ constituencies, except in Visakhapatnam-Vizianagaram-Srikakulam graduate constituency, which was contested by BJP leader Madhav as ally equity share to BJP by the TD.
East and West Rayalaseema teachers’ constituencies were won by Progressive Democratic Front candidates V. Bala Subrahmanyam and K. Narasimha Reddy over TD-supported candidates.
In Prakasam-Nellore-Chittor graduates’ constituency, Pattabhiram Reddy, close aide of Minister P. Narayana, was defeated by Yendla Srinivasulu Reddy.
