CHENNAI: Alleging the interference of the BJP government at the Centre in the internal affairs of AIADMK and the state government with a view to gain a foothold in the state, CPM state secretary G. Ramakrishnan on Friday appealed to AIADMK members, people of Tamil Nadu and the 'secular, democratic forces' to defeat the BJP designs.

He also accused that the Centre is using the Income Tax department and other government machinery for its purpose and trying to enter the state through the backdoor. The AIADMK leaders who are zealous about power are supporting the BJP's move, he charged.

The AIADMK split into two factions to protect their money earned through looting and they are holding talks for merger for the same reasons of safeguarding their money.

Though the split and merger is an internal affair of the AIADMK, people of the state are suffering huge losses due to their clash. The government had been paralysed and no solution had been found for the drought, increasing suicides of farmers, severe drinking water scarcity and the harm caused to students due to Neet.

Expressing similar views, CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan also said the BJP is using the divisions in the AIADMK for its own advantage and the party is watching the situation. VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan too said his party is carefully watching the developments in the AIADMK and the activities of the BJP.

The statements of the three parties follow that of DMK working president M.K. Stalin who questioned the 'selective action' of the centre against AIADMK faction leaders. The three parties, CPM, CPI and VCK would join hands with the DMK and attend the public meeting on April 22 in support of the general strike on April 25.
