Mangaluru: Sangh Parivar keeps BJP cadre on toes
Going by BJP sources, the Parivar is keeping a close watch over its public contact programmes.
Mangaluru: The Sangh Parivar is proving to be Big Brother watching local Bharatiya Janata Party leaders as they campaign these elections in the state.
Going by BJP sources, the Parivar is keeping a close watch over its public contact programmes, where workers and local leaders are expected to contact the public and understand which way the wind is blowing .
"The party has given workers a specific number of houses to contact and expects to receive a ground report on them. While some BJP leaders and workers do this honestly, several make up reports without doing proper ground work. But with the Sangh Parivar doing its own ground work, they can easily be found out," says a senior leader campaigning for the BJP in Mangaluru taluk .
“If local BJP leaders give a flowery picture of the situation or if they have not visited the places given to them , the Sangh leaders are bound to find out. This has made BJP workers and local leaders nervous as they cannot bluff anymore,” he adds.
According to him the Sangh provides proper data to the party, going about the job painstakingly. “In Udupi, the Sangh does not have enough members to do the ground work and so its members accompany BJP workers on the contact programme, making any manufacturing of reports difficult,” says a BJP leader from Udupi.
District BJP leaders agree that the monitoring by the Sangh is helping the party as it leaves lesser room for error. “The presence of the Sangh makes sure the work is done properly, which can only help he party these elections, " he adds.
