Rythu Sangarshana Sabha is continuation of Telangana movement: Revanth Reddy
Reddy said Rahul Gandhi will visit Telangana every three months and has a lot of confidence in the people of Warangal
Hanamkonda: The Rythu Sangarashan Sabha is not just a political meeting in Hanamkonda on May 6, but the continuation of the Telangana movement against the cruel TRS government, announced TPCC chief Revanth Reddy here on Thursday.
He was speaking to the media at Arts and Science ground in Hanamkonda.
He said that on the suggestions given by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, the TPCC would hold a meeting in Warangal.
“Rahul and Sonia Gandhi have a lot of affection towards the people of Telangana. They are very much worried as the dreams and aspirations of Telangana people were not fulfilled even after giving them a separate Telangana state, because of the failures of the TRS government,” he said.
Revanth Reddy alleged that by making all false promises like waiving of 1 lakh farm loans, giving of 1 lakh jobs to unemployed youths and making a dalit as first CM, Chandrasekhar Rao came to power and betrayed the people.
To the question raised by the TRS party working president and IT minister Rama Rao during his visit to Hanamkonda that, where these Congress leaders were when the Telangana movement was held, Revanth Reddy asked KTR to question his parents who gave petrol to their cars from 2001 to 2007.
Revanth Reddy also asked KTR to recollect the 2009 assembly session during which he spoke around 52 minutes demanding the then government to resolve various issues pertaining to Telangana region.
He also said that he fought for 42 per cent of share for Telangana in TTD and for 400 km of coastal corridor for Telangana and sought a share from the income of Vijayawada, Guntur and Krishna districts for TS.
“It is the KCR family who are fond of posts and positions, not the Congress party leaders. That is why even though the people defeated Kalvakuntal Kavitha in Nizamabad and Boinapally Vinod Kumar in Karimnagar, KCR gave them MLC and nominated posts,” he said.
Revanth Reddy said Rahul Gandhi will visit Telangana every three months and has a lot of confidence in the people of Warangal. “That is why he decided to hold a meeting in Warangal. It is the meeting which is going to be held by the people of all sections for their welfare.”
The former PCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah said that by seeing the past history of All India Congress, the Rahul Gandhi meeting is going to be a turning point for the Congress. In 1980, Indira Gandhi contested from Medak parliament segment after which the Congress was rejuvenated to form the government, he said.
“Before 2004, Sonia Gandhi participated in the BC Garjana meeting conducted at Arts and Science college with lakhs of people after which the Congress party went on to form government both in the state and at the Centre. Now Rahul Gandhi is going to participate in the Rythu Sangarshana Sabha at the same grounds and history will surely be repeated,” he said.
Congress party star campaigner MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, former union minister Balram Naik, Mulugu MLA Seethakka, Warangal and Hanamkonda DCC unit president Naini Rajendar, Konda Muralidhar and Janga Raghava were among those present.
