Bengaluru: When the Master Plan 2015 was approved by the state government, BDA proposed formation of five layouts – Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout, K Shivarama Karanth Layout, D Devaraj Urs Layout, Kyasambahalli Changalaraya Reddy Layout and S Nijalingappa Layout.
It also announced that least 90,000 sites would be allotted. The Kempegowda and Shivaram Karanth layouts have been approved but the government is struggling to acquire land and provide adequate compensation to those who have lost land.

Sources said it is unlikely that the BDA will finally form Shivaram Karanth Layout as the land loser would have to be compensated thrice the guidance value.
The layout has been planned in the northern part of the city between Doddaballapur and Hesaraghatta Road. Around 3,546 acres of land falling under 17 villages was supposed to be acquired and Rs 1,847 crore was to be spent on the layout to form 18,975 sites of different dimensions.
