BSY gets his team... and discord too
But dissatisfied BJP MLAs unlikely to cross the brink even if they are not inducted in the second phase.
Bengaluru: Although the BJP legislators, who did not find a place in the Yediyurappa Cabinet, are speaking out against the party's state leadership, they are unlikely to turn rebels, according to party sources.
While Belagavi MLAs, Balachandra Jarkiholi and Umesh Katti are upset at being excluded from the Cabinet, the former has reportedly told his family he was confident of becoming minister eventually. And once the disqualification issue is settled in the Supreme Court, his brother, Ramesh Jarkiholi, too could become minister, say sources.
Mr. Umesh Katti, meanwhile, has been pacified by Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa with the promise of a cabinet berth during the second round of expansion, sources reveal. Likewise, the party has reportedly assured Sullia MLA, S. Angara, that he will be inducted into the cabinet during the second round of expansion.
But not all unhappy legislators are convinced about their induction in the second round as they believe the vacancies are meant for disqualified Congress and JD(S) MLAs once their cases are disposed of by the Supreme Court.
However, some like BJP MLAs, Nehuru Olekar and Murugesh Nirani are hoping they will be considered during the next cabinet expansion, whatever the odds.,
Earlier in the day on Wednesday, Honnali MLA, M.P Renukacharya did a U-turn after openly talking of his displeasure with the party leadership for inducting Mr Laxman Savadi into the cabinet. Changing tune, he asserted, "There are no differences in the party, I will not quit from the legislature , but work for the party and to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa."
After weeks of delay as many as 17 ministers were inducted into the Cabinet on Tuesday.
