Andhra Pradesh women panel for probe into obscene audio tapes
The APWC chief pointed out that the YSRC leaders had already claimed that audio tapes are fakes.
VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission (APWC) chairperson Vasireddy Padma underlined the need for an inquiry into alleged leak of audio tapes containing controversial conversations of political leaders with women.
It may be recalled that two separate audio tapes purportedly containing objectionable conversations of a minister and a legislator with different women had gone viral on social media platforms. Following this, the two ruling party men had lodged complaints with police alleging those audio tapes are fake and somebody has mimicked their voices.
Responding to the controversy, the APWC chief pointed out that the YSRC leaders had already claimed that audio tapes are fakes. Yet, the women’s commission would seek a transparent inquiry into the obscene audio tapes.
Refuting allegations of Opposition parties, including Telugu Desam, about no action being taken against the accused in murder of Dalit engineering girl student Nallapu Ramya, Padma pointed out that the government had immediately arrested the accused, filed the chargesheet and was taking all measures as per law to bring the culprit to book.
The APWC chairperson maintained that wherever injustice is being done to women, the YSRC government is responding immediately and taking necessary action. “Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is also the only CM in the country to implement 50 percent reservations for women in the country," she pointed out.
The women’s panel chairperson tied rakhis to several government officials on occasion of Rakshabandhan in Vijayawada on Sunday.
