Shivamogga: While senior BJP leader , KS Eshwarappa may try to gloss over his differences with state party chief, B.S. Yeddyurappa, the latter made it clear on  Wednesday that he did not intend to attend the convention of his Sangolli Rayana Brigade  in Haveri on October 1.

Asked at a press conference whether he would participate in the event of the new outfit launched by Mr Eshwarappa, his long time rival in the party,   Mr.Yeddyurappa responded firmly, “The proposed Haveri convention has nothing to do with me or  BJP. I have already instructed our party seniors and office bearers not to take part. Those who are aware of their party responsibilities should not go and I hope they don’t.”

As for Mr  Eshwarappa’s statement about there being  confusion in the BJP, he shot back,  “This may be the opinion of one person, but it is not the opinion of the whole state. All issues pertaining to the party have been discussed within  four walls. there is nothing left to say.”

On the areca issue, Mr.Yeddyurappa said there was no question of banning it or depriving the crop of subsidy. The Centre would announce the support price for areca shortly, he added.
