CPM seeks shock treatment' to Indian Union Muslim League
The event held at Vengara was inaugurated by CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
Malappuram: Taking a dig at the rival Indian Union Muslim League, the LDF officially launched its campaign for the byelection in Vengara assembly constituency on Thursday. The event held at Vengara was inaugurated by CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. Kodiyeri lambasted the IUML saying the party remained idle in matters of the development of its strongholds. “IUML needs a shock treatment in Vengara for their excessive confidence in winning the seat. They have fielded a candidate who failed to win the support of the party top leaders and a majority of cadres. The candidate was finalised by a businessman and IUML has become a party of rich people,” he said.
Kodiyeri also said that the IUML could not defeat the communal politics of RSS. “Minorities, dalits and other backward classes need to come under the secular alliance rather than resorting to their own parties based on religion and caste,” Kodiyeri said. CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, Janata Dal leader and minister Mathew T Thomas and the other leaders of the LDF constituents were also in attendance during the event.
