Modi public meeting at Mahabubnagar on Sept 30
Parliamentary constituencies Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar and Mahbubabad - shortlisted as possible venues
HYDERABAD: The Telangana BJP has finalized plans for a public meeting to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has begun making plans for the event to be held at Mahabubnagar on September 30.
Former Mahbubnagar MP AP Jithender Reddy said preparations are underway for a massive public meeting and called on people to attend the event in large numbers.
Though four districts - Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar and Mahbubabad - were considered for the meeting, as were a few other dates – Mahbubnagar was chosen for the event on September 30.
It is no coincidence that Mahbubnagar was selected for the public meeting which will see Modi launch the BJP’s poll campaign in Telangana. It was only on June 16 that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao switched on a pump at the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme’s Narlapur pump house marking the inauguration of the project. Though the state government claimed that the project was inaugurated, the BJP has maintained that the event was nothing more than a symbolic gesture as only one of the 31 pumps was started as part of a wet run test.
While what Modi will say in terms of specifics, whether it is what BJP plans are for Telangana in terms of electoral promises is not known, he is expected to take a dig at the PRLIS inaugural, party sources said.
