KHAMMAM: Second-rung Congress leaders and cadre are strongly opposing the party high command’s move to allocate Wyra seat in erstwhile Khammam district to CPM in a seat-sharing arrangement with the left parties.

It is said the protesters are supporters of senior Congress leader Renuka Chowdhary.

The seat sharing arrangement between Congress and Left parties is causing a lot of heartburn within the party. Party leaders are questioning party's high command over allocating seats that are strongholds of Congress party to Left parties.

Kothagudem and Wyra seats have been allotted to the CPI and CPM respectively in the erstwhile Khammam district. There are total 10 seats in the district, including five ST, 2 SC and three general seats.

Congress party’s Central Election Committee has announced the names of CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka for Madhira and Podem Veeraiah from Bhadrachalam seats from erstwhile Khammam district.

It is said the CLP leader will visit Khammam on Monday to interact with leaders of Left parties over seat sharing.
