HYDERABAD: Alleging that poor quality fish seeds were being supplied to Telangana by AP-based contractors, PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy demanded an inquiry into the bidding process undertaken by the state government.

In view of world fisheries day on Monday, Reddy, who presided over a meeting of state fisheries congress, questioned the state government’s attitude towards the industry as supply contracts were handed over to AP despite availability of resources within the state. “These men are pocketing money by supplying poor quality fish seeds. It’s high time an inquiry is initiated,” he said.

Reddy further demanded the government to extend Rs 5 lakh insurance cover for all fishermen.

Earlier at a meeting with heads of various frontal organisations of the party, while emphasising that the party should be prepared for the next general and Assembly elections, he asked the organisational heads to submit reports on various programs conducted earlier and plan of action within the next 10-days.
