Congress leader AK Antony holds talks on Oommen Chandy issue
Mr Chandy told reporters that he had not asked the KPCC leadership to change the date of the Political Affairs Committee meeting.
Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader A.K. Antony has held discussions with the party leaders here on the disquiet in the ‘A’ camp over the treatment meted out to it by the AICC in the appointments of new DCC presidents.
Former chief minister Oommen Chandy has kept off the party programmes ever since his group was sidelined provoking an AICC leader to comment that Mr Chandy’s behaviour was irrational and immature.
Mr Chandy’s grudge is that Mr Ramesh Chennithala’s ‘I’ camp walked away with eight DCC presidents while he had to be satisfied with just three ‘K’ seats – Kottayam, Kozhikode and Kasaragod.
“Chandy’s loyalists are misleading him,” said an AICC leader.
Those who called on Mr Antony at the KPCC office here included KPCC vice-president and MLA V. D. Satheeshan, KPCC spokesperson Rajmohan Unnithan, MLA M. Vincent and former legislator Joseph Vazhakkan.
Mr Chandy told reporters in Kottayam that he had not asked the KPCC leadership to change the date of the Political Affairs Committee meeting.
“Let them decide the date and time of the PAC. If I am free, I will try to attend it. I have neither raised any complaints before the AICC over the DCC presidents’ appointments nor will I do so in future. My demand is that organisational elections should be held as promised earlier,” he said.
